A finish basement is a great way to create
additional living space, before starting your below-grade project;
keep these things in mind:
Address any moisture problems.
Check that foundation walls are free of cracks and properly
sealed prior to construction
Select appropriate building products. Use pressure-treated
lumber where wall framing contacts the floor
Consider paperless-drywall. Paper is a food source for mold
and is used in traditional drywall. By going paperless, you
decrease the potential for mold growth
Finally, select flooring that's approved for below-grade
applications and choose insulation with the proper R-value.
